IOB, Inscriptions on Bronze, which used in the Bronze Age. IOB had been used at same time with Oracle bone script. {About B.C. 1600 (maybe earlier) ~ A.D. 219}. At the early stage of using IOB, the writing was pictographic. People maintained Oracle bone script, but for some reason the script had been written on the bronze. It had been used in Shang dynasty (B.C.1100 ~ B.C.1046), Western Zhou dynasty (B.C.1046 ~ B.C.771), Eastern Zhou dynasty (B.C.770 ~ B.C. 222), Qin and Han dynasty (B.C. 221 ~ A.D. 219). (Baidu, Unknown)
At the early stage of using IOB (unknown, before Shang dynasty), the characters were very similar to the Oracle bone script. The line of character was rough and pictographic, as the picture shows; it's more like pictograph. However, since Shang dynasty, the line had been gotten clear and straight. (Ponte, Ryuurui, 2013)

As Bronze Inscriptions are an age-old script and had been generally used in B.C. 1600, there are lots of researches about IOB had been progressed until now.
Bronze Inscriptions reflect the history and culture of each dynasty. For example conquest, contract, ancestral rites etc.
