Regular script is basically known as traditional Chinese. Since Tang dynasty, the shape of a character get changed to today's shape. Even though the shape of a character is stoped developing from Clerical script, the hand writing gets fancy. It means the structure of the character has been changed, but the shape is still kept in similar form. (Naver Encyclopedia, Unknown)

There are two meanings of regular script. One is keep the custom and becoming example of the calligraphy. The other one is people have to write the character neatly to maintain the purpose of writing, and don't write as cursive or semi-cursive. (Ryuurui Ponte, 2013)

Nowadays, there are few countries where still using regular script, such as Hong Kong, Tai Wan etc. However except those countries, regular script is mostly used in calligraphy, and there are lots of Korean words based on regular script. Some old people still prefer regular script, because simplified chinese character doesn't fit well the actual definition of the word ideogram.
