Small Seal Script is a way of writing Chinese, which had been used in B.C.221. After the end of Warring States Period, Qin dynasty unified China. The famous emperor of Qin dynasty, Qin Shi Huang was the first person who made a idea of small seal script. His aims were the unification of China and language. After he unified China, his next aim was unifying one language. Thus, he simplified "Great Seal Script" (Same as Bronze Inscriptions, it's developed inscription), and the simplified script is "Small Seal Script". The picture at the right side shows that Great Seal Script is written on bronze. (Ponte Ryuurui, 2013)

Small Seal Script

After "Clerical Script" was created, small seal script was used for stamp, frame and epigraph etc. However, small seal script is very different from Oracle bone script and Bronze inscriptions (including Great seal script). The characters of Oracle bone script and inscriptions on bronze are rough, but as the picture at the left side shows, the characters of small seal script are neat. (하늘살이, 2016)

If you see the picture of small seal script carefully, there are some character as same shape as nowaday's character. For example, 山,土,工,巨 etc.
